Nature trail and Bird watching at Bhalu Gaad Waterfall
We left Captains Paradise 6 in morning. It was a 1 kilometre trek to reach bhalugaad waterfall. We parked on the side of the road and started trekking, I scratched my feet a couple of times but we still made it to waterfall.
When I reached the waterfall I was sucked by the beauty of rocks, pleasant sound of the flowing water and lush greenery around us. There was not a single person around us. We had that place all to ourselves. The only regret I have is that we couldn't stay there longer. We had to go back soon.
Ideal for day treks, Bhalu Gaad is a hidden treasure in Mukteshwar, which shouldn’t be missed. Drive 7 km from Mukteshwar to Dhari Village, from where the trek starts. It’s a beautiful walk of around 30-45 minutes through dense forests and mountain streams. It’s an exciting raw trek and in case you are not very confident, you can take a person from the village who can guide you to reach the falls. It’s a paradise for nature lovers and bird watchers. The falls are about 60 ft high that fall in natural clear water pool. Come prepared with an extra pair of clothes so that you can have fun. Bhalu means Bear and Gaad means Stream in Kumaoni language. It’s named such because of sightings of Bears (Bhalu) in the area. The place is not frequented by many travellers, but you might find many locals if you go on a weekend.
